Caution with Use Birth Control Pills If You Plan to Have Children in the Future!

Young women often choose birth control pills to address issues like dysmenorrhea (painful periods) or irregular menstruation after puberty, or to temporarily prevent pregnancy for several years.

Birth control pills primarily work through two mechanisms:

  1. Disrupting the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian (HPO) axis, which affects the formation of dominant follicles and suppresses ovulation.

  2. Altering endometrial development, reducing the endometrium’s responsiveness to estrogen and thinning the uterine lining.

After years or even a decade of use, when women discontinue the pills, a significant portion experience incomplete recovery of HPO axis function. The endometrium often remains thin, leading to difficulties in conception. Even if pregnancy occurs, the thin endometrium may fail to provide adequate blood supply and nourishment for the fetus, increasing risks of miscarriage, or fetal developmental issues. In cases of assisted reproductive technologies (e.g., IVF), the compromised HPO axis and endometrial conditions may still struggle to sustain a full-term pregnancy.

避孕药其中有2个作用:(1)干扰下丘脑-垂体-卵巢(HPO)轴,影响优势卵泡的形成,抑制排卵;(2)影响子宫内膜发育,降低内膜对雌激素的反应,使内膜变薄;
